Muddy stilettos best glamping award and a Venus award for new business back not long after we started 🙂 We’ve not entered any since, which I really must do!!
Describe your style
Clean lines, neutral tones, wood, and if we’re running repletion at an event, ruthless efficiency and very big smiles!
How did you get into your business and what inspired you?
A complete accident! I bought a tent to camp in because I was bored of our camper van and hitting our heads. Steve didn’t moan about the cost as I told him I was going to rent it out. And then I stared researching – one tent became three, became five, became 10. And now we have about 200!!
What do you like about working at Great Betley Farmhouse?
We love venues that have green space for camping, as for us it really does make the weekend for people. We’re all for discussing the night before antics over coffee and toast the next morning. But we also love independent venues that allow couples to make their own mark. Plus we love working with Jolly Nice people!
At Great Betley Farmhouse we encourage sustainability and being environmentally friendly. How does your business support that ethos?
YES to this! It’s an ongoing battle we’ve been waging for 10 years against all the needed packing stock comes in. We concentrate on buying stock that lasts, recycling. Planting trees, and we have solar panels on the office and the warehouse. It’s still not enough.
What advice would you give to couples to help them plan and enjoy their celebrations?
Have a wet weather plan – the sun is not a guarantee. Much as the tents are waterproof, getting to them in the open air is not. Buckets of umbrellas are a must!
