Betty Loves Vintage – Supplier Spotlight
I worked with Helen from Betty Loves Vintage a few years ago when weddings were not happening. All we could do were styled shoots to showcase our work. Whilst not ideal that weddings were on hold, it gave us in the industry a chance to get creative. It also meant we were working with different suppliers and building our networks, which in turn benefits our couples!
On this particular day we managed two styles in one day which was pretty epic. I’d had the idea of doing a Prohibition Tea Party shoot. Collaborating with photographer Nicki Komorowski we realised that we could split it into two distinct styles. After all, the idea of styled shoots is to give couples inspiration. Helen from Betty Loves Vintage provided gorgeous props and crockery etc for both shoots. You can see more of our styled shoots here.

How did you get into your business and what inspired you?
I have always been creative and have a background in Textile Designer and visual merchandising. I have also always loved collecting vintage pieces, pretty teacups in particular. When it came to planning my own wedding my passion and creativity really came together. My collection of vintage crockery and props grew and grew! After months of collecting, creating and crafting, our wedding arrived. It was everything we could have hoped for, just perfect! Our vision really came to life. After our Honeymoon I realised that I was craving another creative project to work on, so Betty Loves Vintage was born.
In case you were wondering about my business name, Betty was my Nan and I named my business after her.

What do you like about working at Great Betley Farmhouse?
I love working with Kim at Great Betley Farmhouse. Kim is such a friendly and caring venue owner, her venue feels like a home from home. It is also a unique blank canvas wedding venue with a stunning backdrop, which offers so much flexibility and choice. Couples can have the wedding day they want, their way.
Describe your style
I’d describe my style as fun, relaxed, colourful, pattern filled, creative unique and nostalgic.

At Great Betley Farmhouse we encourage sustainability and being environmentally friendly, how does your business support that ethos?
I believe in being as eco-friendly as possible in my business. Hiring your wedding decor is a great way to cut down on waste. My entire wedding decor collection is made up of vintage and upcycled finds. Also our handmade floral chair covers are created from re-purposed and reclaimed vintage fabrics. My vintage crockery and tableware hire collection, eclectic props and furniture hire range have been lovingly collected over the years from antique shops and vintage fairs across Sussex.

What advice would you give to couples to help them plan their celebration?
Don’t feel pressurised to fit into the idea of a standard wedding. The expensive white dress, the church, the massive reception venue, the favours, the three course meal, wedding cake, the band….. Let’s face it, these things are lovely and if you do want all of this the that’s great for you as a couple. If you aren’t sure that you want all of this and find this formula a bit limiting why not decide which parts really matter to you and stick with those?
Get creative and do your wedding your way. Your friends and family are coming to celebrate you and your love for each other. It’s the perfect opportunity to express your personalities and make your wedding day as unique as you are!
